WHO postnatal care guideline supported by 13 Cochrane Reviews

In March 2022, the World Health Organization released an updated comprehensive guideline, 'WHO recommendations on maternal and newborn care for a positive postnatal experience'. The guideline focuses on the weeks shortly after birth, making 63 recommendations on maternal care, newborn care, health systems and health promotion during the postnatal period.

Thirteen Cochrane reviews contribute to the suite of evidence used to inform the guidelines, including a review from Cochrane Incontinence, 'Pelvic floor muscle training for preventing and treating urinary and faecal incontinence in antenatal and postnatal women'.

The guideline can be read on the WHO website.
